If our test system and Production system are the SAME for OS, Lawson Environment, Ram, HDD, is it possible to copy a productline from one server to another. Reason: we have installed App 9.0.0.x on Test and it would save time if we could copy this to our prodution system v. a upgrade\install on the production server. thanks, |

You can absolutely copy productlines. Not only across servers, but across operating systems if you want. Go to http://www.schronce.net/lawson (my website), and pick up copies of pkg_pline.sh and unpack_pline.sh Run pkg_pline.sh on your SOURCE server. It'll ask you a few questions, then it will create a "package" containing everything needed to duplicate that productline somewhere else. Move the package to the TARGET system and run unpack_pline.sh. It asks some questions, like "what is hte path to the package", "what was the original pline name" and what do you want to call this pline" - then it will install it for you. When completed you'll have to run dbdef to hook it to a database, fill in the appropriate $LAWDIR/prodline/CAP_DB file and run cobcmp - that's it! This is the utility that I use to duplicate productlines when I do installations/upgrades. It is compatible with both 8.X and 9.X systems and all AMTs. Excluding the cobcmp you can do the whole thing in well under 2 hours. Edited by schroncd, Feb 26 2009, 09:40 AM.

Everything *I* write is for Unix, but one of my good friends happens to have translated that script to run on Windows (under MKS). Scroll further down on that page and you'll see a (very small) Windows section. You can grab the scripts from there. Note: There are 4 of them - something about setting the correct environment on Windows.. |
