Title: Pr12 And Debit Cards
Description: Account Type?

Hello fellow Lawson Talkers,
Does anyone use pay cards or debit cards to pay their employees? If so how do you set them up on the PR12 do you just use the checking or savings account type or is there some upgrade/patch to the PR12 that needs to be loaded with a new category type?
We're doing some research on this option for paying people so if anyone has any pros or cons you could share I would appreciate the comments.
Thanks much

When we explored that possibility for our company, the vendor indicated that the ACH considered it a "checking account", so I'd bet your sales rep should know what to code it.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Geri......That's a relief that our system would currently accommodate this. You mentioned "you explored that possibility" did you decide against the debit cards and if so do you mind sharing why?

In my experience, there are two major groups of people who don't already have direct deposit -- the distrustful and the unbankable. T
Those who are distrustful of direct deposit wouldn't opt for the debit card, no matter how appealing we made it sound. They usually have checking and savings accounts, but they want to controll what goes where, when and (sometimes) what the spouse sees.
The unbankable were mostly worried that they can't get ALL their money or that the card could be stolen and their money will disappear. Too many of them have had bad experiences with banks.
Luckily, most of our employees comply with our "mandatory" direct deposit rule.

We use debit cards and treat them just like checking accounts. I believe ACH treats the account the same just a different account number. It has been working fine for us. We are in many states and laws restrict us from totally mandating direct deposit. Debit cards were the only alternative.
