Title: Duplicate Time Records

jedmiston - December 11, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Has anyone who uses Lawson employee/manager self service for time entry ever had an employee's time records duplicated? We (payroll staff) have been unable to reproduce the problem, but our employees manage to do it from time to time--unfortunately they don't have any idea how they are doing it. We're wondering if anyone else has the problem; or maybe you did, and you found the solution. It's understandably causing some of our people to question the accuracy of their leave balances. We have a Crystal report to identify likely duplicates, but we'd like to actually fix the problem.

Lawson assures us that we're the only client who has reported this issue. My hunch is that not all that many people use Lawson's time entry system since it isn't terribly robust (but you can't beat the price).

We've had similar duplicate entries happen off and on in the past two and half years that we've been using this ESS task, but always attributed it to "operator error" or "system glitch" since we've been unable to reproduce it. Since there are precious few of us Lawson clients using this, not much help is out there.

I'd be interested to see any addtional information you receive on this.

Are you leaving a time period open after you load the ESS data? Do you allow your employees tp "back post" time to previous pay periods?

These COULD cause the Duplicate Data issue..

No, we close a pay period for online entry (on HS03) just before we extract the time records using HS535. Once the period is closed, it's never re-opened.

We did wonder about someone entering their time for a future period and then changing it after we had extracted the prior period--but we tried that on test, and we weren't able to cause any problems.

Thanks for the suggestion.
