Title: Automation Without Process Flows

HRISUser - November 30, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
We are currently building a very robust Intranet that our 3,000+ Employees can access. Within this intranet we are trying to allow for some Manager Self Service. We would like to post a change form on the site and have the managers enter the information, once approvals have been granted the information is stored in a database. We want to upload those results to Lawson thus eliminating the manual data entry process for increases and such. This is where I am not sure what the best method is. The work around that I can think of is to have this database produce two files one HR511 record to update the information on the HR11 screen and the EMPLOYEE table and then to also produce an HR521 History Record, so that we can still track history from the PERSACTHST Table.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this or if anyone has any better suggestions. Any thoughts/comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi Sophia,

What database type and version are you planning on importing this data into?

Hi Miguel,

We are going to be using Microsoft Office Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 which is where the database of the information will be stored and then are trying to bring that data into Lawson Version 8.03

Please let me know if you need additional info, as I'm not sure if the response answered your question.
Thanks

What type of database is your Lawson 8.03 system using?

It's relatively simple to automate Lawson data loads. If you extract our Sharepoint data into properly formatted csv files they can be uploaded using any of Lawson's 500 series conversion programs or the importdb utility.

Don't forget that part of load automation is UNIX scripting (via the MKS toolkit). Dave's site has a number of helpful scripts.
