Title: 9.0 Ess - Shared Aix User Account
Description: Many users to one AIX account

We are implementing ESS. I understand there is a way to assign one AIX account to multiple ESS users.

1) What is the number of ESS users I can assign one AIX OS account to?
2) Are there any other pitfalls I should be aware of before doing this?

I understand each ESS user needs her own SSOP user id.

Thank you,

Also need to add we are using LS Security 9.0

I'm answering my own question. How funny.

Lawson Administration: Resources and Security Guide beginning on page 118.

LSF 9.0 SP2 - There is no limitation to the number of users I can assign to one AIX OS userid.

LSF 9.0 SP1 (where I am now) - The limitation is 1,000 names to one AIX OS userid.

Now the fun part. Executing the plan.

Thanks,

So.... Were you able to execute your plan?

We are implementing ESS and this is an extremely interesting concept, I would like to know if it worked for you.

I'm in the early stages of implementing ESS security on our LSF 9.0 Environment. My understanding is that AIX OS user accounts are only necessary if users run batch jobs. Unless there's something I'm missing, ESS users are only portal users and therefore do not need an AIX account. The only requirement is that each one is created in RM with the SSOP service user id.

Are you planning on creating an AIX account for every 1,000 ESS users?
