Title: Inactivate Dependent Through Ess
Description: Allow employee to inactivate dependent

Does anyone know if there is a way to allow an employee to inactivate a dependent through Employee Self Service.

Right now this can only be done through HR13 by the HR department.

Good morning, shanesmj - I don't believe there is a way for an employee to remove a dependent - and from my many years in HR, in my opinion it's not a good idea to allow employees to do this anyway. Believe it or not, I've had employees remove dependents (i.e a spouse) from insurance coverage because the two parties had a fight, which is actually not a legal way to drop them. It was a miserable mess when the spouse who was dropped tried to submit a claim and were told they didn't have coverage. If there was any chance of reconciliation before the divorce, this stopped it!

Knowledge base article 75988 just provides info on how to remove the dependent from non-ESS screens, which is actually a better control.

Good luck!!
