The new state law in PA requires employers with more than 15 employees and 1 requiring child support payments must submit the payments electronically. The new law went into effect on 9/5/06. Illinois has something like this as well.
As I understand Lawson does NOT have the capability of supporting Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for garnishments in Lawson payroll or accounts payable.
PA has a free software that creates an ACH file for transmission, but it is not interfaced with Lawson, so the data needs to be entered into this software.
Is anyone doing this today?
Are the transmissions handled by your Accounts Payable department or Payroll?
We are in Illinois and we had to create a custom program to create the ACH file for child support.
We got the a custom program from another lawson customer and then did some modifications specific to our needs.
Does Payroll process your ACH transmissions for child support or AP?
We currently have all garnishments sent to AP to process.
