Title: Frustrated..... Laua
Description: Employee Find (Search)
shanesmj - September 6, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
I upgraded to ESP 6 and now I have a user that can not search for employees. They CAN enter an employee number in and click inquire fine ...
BUT SINCE THEY DO NOT KNOW THE EMPLOYEE NUMBER THEY CAN NOT SEARCH FOR TEH NUMBER .... Lawson says it is an incorrect setting in LAUA but I can not find anything.
What tables and applications would cause you to be able to inquire but NOT search for a number with a name....?

In laua, search is controlled by the criteria in File Security and inquire is controlled by the criteria in Data Security. So, check for a record in Record Security on the EMPLOYEE file by doing this: go to laua, <F6> and select A (Security class), enter the Security Class and tab down to the productline, <F6> and select A (Applications), tab down to HR, <F6> and select C (File Security), tab down to EMPLOYEE, <F6> and select B (Record Security).
Hope that helps.

Karen,
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this. When I went to the Record security for Employee there is nothing on the screen for a Condition Name or Condition.
Should there be and if so what?
Thanks again...
Shane

I checked other security classes and I do not have anything entered for this screen for other security classes that have no problem searching?
Why is it so difficult to set this stuff up - too often there are 5 screens that need to be edited for one thing. Strange part is Lawson says that I have it setup wrong BUT it worked fine before ESP6. :banghead:

Hi Shane - is your user searching in the portal, or LID? Are there others in the same security class who don't have this issue? Although searching by employee number wouldn't be the way I would choose, can the user search by name or by other option?

When you upgraded to ESP6 the search function default was been changed by Lawson for Portal. The default is "=" instead of ">=". When you do an alpha search you need to add an * at the end of the alpha string.

I just tried to upload a word document and then a pdf and I am unable.
I was going to provide a screen shot of what the user sees... The user does not see anything in the search option on the side AND they also are unable to search for an employee in LID.
The find employee just does not exist for the user.

Here is a screen print of what the user sees.....

I feel stupid....
All this and it turned out that the EMPLOYEE table only allowed certian fields to be viewed... One of the missing fields was COMPANY. Therefore it allowed you to type the company number and employee number ... BUT when it tried to search for employees it could not see COMPANY so the find option was not displayed.
