WE are Rco- 8.03 and I have a person who recently got married and changed their last name. I'm looking to see if there is a way to change the username and then copy over her old jobs to that users new name. I hate the thought of removing her and having her to rebuild all her screens and not see her old information i the print mananger. Has anyone done this, and if so could you share how

what platform are you on? There is a KB article #81341 that explains how to do it for a windows user which is very simple, but Unix or iSeries may be different. Try searching for change username in the KB.

After you create the new user name and add a security class in laua, highlite the old user name and press F9 to delete it - you'll be given the option to transfer all the users jobs to another user - select the new username.

I'm working from memory so try this on a test system first..

I haven't read through the unix instructions, but on a Windows box, creating a New user is NOT needed. The KB above will explain it in detail, but in short, it is as simple as renaming the OS account, change the RD30 record, and to cleanup the print directory structure, there is a jobdump/jobload utility. A few more steps than listed here, but the KB will cover it. I've done it numerous times due to name changes or a need for an OS account change. It is best to use this method so that you keep the NTxxxxxxxxx id associated to the same user if you are on a windows box.
