Title: .or Files And Srmod
Description: Drills working differently for diff user

Before we upgraded to Portal, we were able to customize our drill selects. That is no longer an option in Portal, but for those users that did, their drills continue to show those "custom" fields in Portal. So different users see different data for the same drill.

I would like to understand how this works, and have searched the Lawson knowledgebase, but have found only a little information. I know the .OR files show the fields to be displayed, and I am pretty sure that the SRMOD table in Logan holds user-specific information regarding drilldown. But why, if that is the case, is there no way to access it on Portal? I am hoping someone here can clarify this for me.

This is only a 2-cents'-worth answer, since I don't know what Logan's SRMOD table does.

Screen Rules (SR) and Object Rules (OR) interact in a very confusing way. Here's the hierarchy:

First you have to have a Key Number. kndef.

Then you have to assign that Key Number to a System, making a "System Key Number". skndef.

That key number is assigned the field input entry on a COBOL program's .scr screen file - the "Form" as it's called in led. It's in the $TRANS section, in the KN column. (For more detail, see the ADW Standards guide.)

The file that's linked to the Key Number must be mentioned in the Screen Rules file (also called the Form Rules) in one or more DEFINE SELECT sections. (See the ADW Standards guide for more info.)

In the Screen Rules file, DEFINE SCRDTL rules enable lookups that will allow linkage to Drill-Around.

Finally, once that's all in place, drill-around is done via the Object Rules file. The primary rule types are DEFINE OBJWIN and DEFINE OBJVIEW which link back to the table being queried via the FILENAME line. (Again, the ADW Standards guide is the "bible".)

Just for your further puzzlement, I've uploaded a document on Object Rules.

I hope that this helps.
