Description: Report that reflects employee changes

We are implementing the EPIC product at the Hospital here, and need to have a report (similar?!) to the PA340 in Lawson - from Lawson; so we can apply proper security setting standards, except that it needs to be in Excel format.
Essentially, I need to see the Employee#, Name, Job Code, Dept Code, Dept Name, Hire Date, Term Date, ....

Every time someone is hired/fired/or changes atatus and/or Job code, I need to send this report out.

Anyone write a report similar to this. It is for our Security Admin.

How do you create reports out of Lawson currently? Are you limited to report writer?

I have used a Visual Basic program that polls the HRHISTORY table for new entries. If the HRHISTORY entry is related to a change in status or termination date, the program emails an administrator. The program can also be set up to update the Active Directory to inactivate the employee's account. Conversly, when a new employee comes on board, the program creates an Active Directory and Exchange account and creates the security groups automatically based on the new hire's job code.

You could also use a database trigger to launch an email. And you could set up a Crystal Report using Crystal Enterprise to perform a similiar task that sends you a listing of new hires and terminations at the beginning or end of each day.

You could also set up a Lawson process flow to accomplish this. The option you go with will heavily depend on the expertise and tools available to you.

We also have employees who transfer to a different Job Code, I assume this can be handled in the same fashion. - In other words, we need to see the previous Jobe and the new Job (with a date)

I would probably need to do this in Crystal , although I am not familiar with the HR tables.

Everything you need is in HRHISTORY. For information on finding information on tables and relationships in the Lawson database see my 'member article'.

the report needs to reflects changes in an employees HM_ACCT_UNIT, JOB_CODE, DEPT with the corresponding dates. EX: Joe Smith went from Purchasing to IS. How can I link the HRHISTORY to the EMPLOYEE table, or PR table, etc?
