Title: Terming A Position Instead Of A Person

As a government entity, when elected officials leave/are voted out of office, we terminate their office (process level) and all associated personnel. Mass termination is fine, with the exception of the employees who work in multiple offices. Because there is no easy way to determine who may be working in more than one office when the term is performed, we have a high risk of terminating a person (who works in say, 10 offices) instead of just the position if the terminating office happens to reside on the HR11 instead of PA13. Our population is about 10,600 actives - with about 350-400 working in more than one office.

I'm wondering if our best option is a flag that can be excluded from employee group set up, and consequently exclude these employees from the mass termination process? That obviously opens up the potential for a lot of data entry errors (and we have enough of those as it is!) and even higher maintenance because of how often our people move between and work within more than one process level.

I've been driving myself crazy over this one :bonk:

When I run into a problem where I can't build a group using Lawsons tools I usually generate my list in Crystal and use addins to build my group. In your example you need to generate a list of only those employees that should be termed by excluding any employee with pos 1 in the office in question that also has other active positions.

Export the Crystal report to excel then use addins to load HR55.2 (Employee Groups by Employees) by employee number. You can then go ahead and process as you normally would with the mass actions. However, you will still need to identify those people you excluded from the report and end or change their primary position.

This is useful for the occasional special circumstances but you wouldn't want to do it on a daily basis.
