Title: Self Service Benefits/plan Types
Description: Problem w/ enrollments when elig differs

shanesmj - April 19, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
We have various benefits under PLAN CODE: "HL" and since one in the group has no waiting and others have 30 day waiting we are having problems with the self-service enrollment ...

For example: Medical insurance under health has a 30 day waiting period setup and and another plan that is medical related has NO waiting period. All of the medical plans show as no waiting period (Yes they are defined correctly for entry)

LAWSON : Says that the system is working as designed and that the system would need to be "customized" to add an additional PLAN TYPE. I am disappointed to hear that the system is designed to not handle the different eligibility rules as they are listed but whatever.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do? Apparently these plan codes are hard-coded into the system and can not easily be changed... The system will not allow for plans under one type to have different eligibility rules?????

Health
Savings Bond
Dental
Stock Purchase
Disability
Spending Accounts
Employee Life
Vacation
Dependent Life
Defined Contribution
Defined Benefit

Any Ideas or suggestions?????

This just doesn't seem right to me, so I added a couple of no-waiting-period plans in test and gave on-line enrollment a try. Tried an HL plan and a couple RS plans, and ESS showed the correctly different eligible dates. At first, I added a new BS02 Web Benefits Plan Group for each the new plan types, then added on BS03.3; that worked fine. Next I deleted those BS02 records, and included the test plans in the existing plan groups on BS03.3. The correct eligible date showed in this case, too.

We're still on 7.2.2.7 on the iSeries, so if you're on a later version (and who isn't?), maybe that's the kicker. What Lawson told you us wrong on my system. Let me know if you want to talk about this, use the PM on the site.

I agree that that doesn't sound right we have many different facilities and some have different waiting periods for the same benefits. there is no problem with the self service enrollments for these. We are on 8.1

I would check back with lawson or see what others say. It has been my experience that just because someone works for lawson does not mean that they have a clue how Lawson works. They may know one product inside and out and know nothing else.
