Does anyone know what Lawson is recommending hardware wisr for a full LBI 9 implementation (SmartNotes, Crystal Ent., etc.)? I have spent several hours deep in the Lawson Support Documentation area with no more of a clue than when I started
david :banghead: .
We are currently looking at a 2 way 3.2 GHz P4 wintel box with 4 - 6 GB RAM. Not sure if that will be enough to grow with us (especially running SQL, Smartnotes, crystal, etc off the smae hardware).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Our new hardware is paired IBM X346's with 5 GB RAM each, 2 CPU's each @ 3.6 Ghz, and a whole lot of disk space. They run as a cluster. so each one is capable of running Lawson, SQL Server, and other stuff on top as well, all by itself. We're only running 8.0.3/8.0.3 but LBI 9 should run about the same speed.
The two biggest things that will slow down Lawson and SQL are, not enough RAM memory; and not enough disk space.
You can't get too much RAM. Don't go for 4 Gb, get 6 Gb, and more if your hardware will stand it.
Disks should be separate for: OS; Lawson Environment and Apps (including IOS, Portal, and so on); and SQL Server. Drives should never get filled beyond 50%, so plan on much more disk space than you ever imagine you will need. You'll never regret it.
(Just for your comfort level, our old systems are running fine on reduced specs, dual CPU's @ 1 Ghz with 3 GB RAM. Some reports are running very slowly now, so we are looking forward to getting the new systems up and running.)
BTW, no matter what hardware you throw at Lawson, the users will figure out how to bring it to its knees. Run too many RW100 reports at once, and nothing will finish before the next election.
Thanks Milo,
That was about the same as what we were thinking here. I just wanted some kind of confirmation that I was not as crazy as everyone here thinks I am :bonk:
