Title: Hr13.1 Birthdate
Description: Making a field required

nporter - March 20, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
Hello,
Was wondering if anyone knows if and how I can make the birthdate field on HR13.1 required. Normally I would define the cell however I don't have the option to do so ...was wondering if anyone knew how to do it...

we are on Windows NT. Version 8.03
Thanks
Nathalie

I believe you can do that through data item attribute on HR10. Alternatively you can use the design studio tool to make any field you want required.

1) Open Lawson
2) Form Transfer (F8) to HR10.1
3) Enter you Company
4) Enter 'E5' for the Topic
5) Inquire
6) Next to Birthdate
a) Enter 'C' for the FC (Function Code)
B) Enter 'x' for required
c) Enter '9' for Security Level (which means everyone can see it)
7) Click the "Change" button

It is now required.

Unless its the dreaded "customization" word, I don't think there's any way to make a field on the dependent form required other than the ones the app has already set - :nix: Good luck!

WOW Thanks for the quick response!! I'll see if the HR10 serves the purpose.
Only problem is I don't want that required on EVERY form that has birthdate.

Thanks!

Ok Guys/Gals ..
Here is the deal ..
on HR10 "E5" apparently that only applies to those items on HR11. So that won't work cause I needed them for the dependents. That is ok. I checked with Lawson as well, and they also said that there is no way to control it on that page, however, I could put in an enhancement request. So that is the deal.

BUT THANKS LAWSONNBR1FAN cause The HR10 Screen is great and will answer more questions that I would of had!
thanks!
Nathalie
