Title: Absence Management
Description: Has Anyone Converted From Time Accrual?

We are considering converting from Time Accrual to Absence Management. Have any of you done so and can share stories? Good or bad, I'd like some input. Thanks much! Billy

We are also beginning this process and any shared experiences would be very helpful.

Now I'm not an application guy by nature, but we've had two clients that have converted in the past 6 months and I can't tell you any good stories. One recommendation is to send someone to training who knows your current TA well. The biggest issue has been finding someone who knows what the new AM system does and how to use it.

Lawson warns that Absense Management is much more complex than the TA module due to the flexibility that have added to the module. They strongly recommend you send someone to training and that trying to learn it on your own could be very difficult.
Every client I know of has been saying they are going to implement it but I have yet to find someone who has. Based on the hands on demonstration at last year's CUE though, Absence Management seems very similiar to flow and setup of the Benefit's Administration module in Lawson, with regards to rules, automation, and configuration.

We went live with Lawson HR/Payroll including Absence Management in August for half our facilities and the rest in January. we didn't convert from time accrual we are new to lawson. We have had a few glitches with AM but overall it is very flexible and has met our needs. and we are a needy bunch.

We've gone through the entire conversion process from TA to Absence Management. We'll do our final conversion and go live early next month.
The only problem that we have encountered is getting people used to the idea of NOT having a gazillion different TA plans set up for our PTO plan that they have to transfer balances between. I don't know how many times I went rounds with the users during testing who were frustrated because the LP180 wasn't finding any balances to transfer:
User: "But we need to transfer their PTO balance from their old plan to their new plan."
Me: "There's only one PTO plan. There's nothing to transfer."
User: "But...but...but...you mean we don't need to do anything?"
Me: "That's correct."
User: [Stunned silence. Continued look of confusion.] "So then how can I tell if their balance transferred?"
Me: :banghead:

 LOL that sounds very familiar!! Now if you don't mind I have to go sit in a 2 hour long meeting loop so my manager has something to do.
