Hello everyone,
I am a new bie
we are upgrading from 7.24 to 8.1
I am not sure I understand this upgrade while active .
If am right
1.The down time referred is from production to source
2. In all iterations Source will be exact copy of production
when i set environment trigger in production
How will trigger handle deleted record ?
Do we have keep a note of it ?
Thanks in advance
It's my understanding (and I *HAVE* been wrong) that in upgrade while active the SOURCE *IS* RODUCTION.. That's the only way it can keep track of data changes made by your users.
g'luck!!
Actually, if you look at the UIP, Lawson calls for separate PRODUCTION, SOURCE and TARGET product lines even if you use Upgrade While Active. The difference is that after the first complete copy of production to source, additional transactions in production are tracked in a log file and on subsequent iterations, only the log file needs to be copied from production to source.
The key thing to note is that there is a list of tables that are not logged by this process and which need to be copied in their entirety at every iteration. For us, these included several of our largest tables which negated any advantage gained from the Upgrade While Active process.
