Title: Seperate Benefits For Different Groups

nporter - February 15, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
Hello,
I'll see if I can word this correctly.
We have set up in lawson one company, under that company are 7 other companies we are all on the same benefits so it is not a problem. However, I am need to add another company to make 8 companies. This 8th company will have their own open enrollment off cycle of the other 7 companies and they will have seperate benefits (health and dental etc.) and all different rates. If I create a group a seperate employee group for just these people can set it up that way? I want to keep them semi seperate. And have just them enroll via self service... so when they go through enrollment I only want them to see the info to pertains to their group...make sense?

Thoughts?
thanks

You would set up separate groups, but why don't you set up separate plans as well? Sounds like you are saying the plans are different, so it might make sense to create different plan codes.

Thanks for replying... We currently use Cigna, I am not sure what this other company uses for instance they could be Aetna, so I am not sure of all the things I have to do. for 6 months they're plans and rates will be different. Then eventually the plan is for them to go on what ever our plans are (those maybe changing as well) but either way no matter how they are set up they will have different rates.

So does that mean I have to set up all new plan's, plan codes, employee groups? Anything else....
I have never done it before (new to this)
thanks

Whew, that'a a tall order for a new user, learning from manuals. I agree with Dogeco, set up separate plans, etc; even though it seems like more work now, it'll keep things cleaner and simpler in the long run. And, as an added bonus, you'll get some experience in the BN screens, in anticipation of more plan changes in the future. Not using Flex benefits, are you? Are the manuals you mention Lawson manuals or something internal? I'm glad to offer some guidance if you need help. Have done HR/BN stuff for 7+ years.

Thank you so much for your help. Management hasn't made a decision yet as to what we are going to do with this company so I am trying to plan ahead to figure it all out in the interim. We don't use flex benefits. We have an HMO and a PPO.

I have on prob setting up new plans I can base them off of what exists now and just change the pertinent data, I am just hoping I don't leave anything out... The manuals are the lawson manuals that I Have been reading. I managed to get through open enrollment fairly smoothly (I am a quick learner) but they have never done the things that they are now talking about so there are no notes to go by. I am just happy I have finally found other assistance other then lawson LIS.

When I get more information I will definately post questions again...as it is now the decisions are always changing..

Thank you!!
Nathalie
