We are currently planning our 8.0.3 > 8.1 Apps upgrade and would like a consensus on what some of you are doing or have done.
It seems that Lawson recommends you do a dual environment, with both the source and target PL's separate from your production PL so you have more control of testing (stoplaw, startlaw, lawsec on, lawsec off, etc).
One question we have is with the need to create a new productline for the 8.1 apps (target), how have you folks handled the PL name change? I understand that if you have separate environments, it's not as big of an issue (since you could name them the same thing) but under the same environment it could be a problem. Wouldn't it require changing RD30 records, reports, pflows, LSN, and anything else where the PL name is specified. Maybe I'm missing something here???? :nix:
Thanks for the input.
Thus the reason for a dual env version - we clone your environment - then clone your existing Prod (but call it Source!) then we install the 9.1 apps in a PL called Prod. Install the upg code in both and run the upgradre. When you get finished your new 8.1 PL is called Prod (or whatever you want it to be - I once created an 8.1 called prod7)
By "clone" do you mean a copy of the entire filesystem housing the current prod environment....including the IOS/Portal install? Or does this mean creating from scratch a new environment and making it the same as the current prod env?
