Title: Address Windows Extensions With Lawson
Description: /3GB switch with SQL-Server

Has anyone tried to implement or can provide any recommendations on how to best implement Address Windowing Extensions (AWE), specifically the /3GB switch for SQL-Server 2000 running on the Windows Server 2003 operating system?

We have 8gb of RAM on our primary production / database server, but SQL-Server is not fully utilizing it. We tried to turn on AWE in SQL-Server and modified the server boot.ini file by adding the /3GB switch, but that killed my Windows operating system. When the server was rebooted, the Lawson environment would appear to start but because SQL-Server consumed all available memory, Windows came to a halt.

Here's our basic specs:

Environment 8.0.3, service pack 7.
Applications 8.1.0, service pack 6.
Microsoft Windows 2003, Enterprose Edition, service pack 2. (8gb RAM)
Micorosft SQL-Server 2000, Enterprise Edition, service pack 4.

Thanks in advance.
