Title: I Have A Dream...self Sufficient End Users

darthlawson - March 25, 2008 07:03 PM (GMT)
I have a dream where a majority of the Lawson end users are self sufficient (for the most part) and super users are there for them when they have issues. The realization of this dream would then be a world where the IT staff has more time to work on projects and bells and whistles.

Has anyone seen this dream come to fruition? At least partially? What feedback and/or advice do you have for an organization (or an IT Director) that wants to accomplish this?

I'm not looking for someone to provide me with a roadmap, but rather share their ideas so that I can evaluate others experiences and build a process for my organization.

Thanks, in advance, for sharing.

Hi Rob - I wish I could tell you we had already accomplished your dream, but we're still working on it. It's a slow and painful process, but we ARE moving forward. I think one of the best investments we've made is with Learning Accelerator, because the most often used reason here has always been "we don't have enough training on that part" and "we were never taught about that" - even when most of the employees have attended extended training. We have had the added burden that in the past, the users were never held accountable for what they did in the system. We're still rolling out the product, but at least the training will always be available for the employees in multiple formats. There's also a new piece of LA that Lawson just made available, which is the management tool, which provides detail on who takes the training, when, etc. etc.

Good luck - I hope someone else has already seen your dream come to fruition, and will share even more details!!

I had that dream too. ... then the job got TOO easy, there was nothing left to do, and it was, Hello, Unemployment Office! :P

Sometimes you get what you wish for -- unfortunately!
