Title: Maryland County Tax -- Ded Codes
Description: Separate codes needed for each locality?

Geri Gradl - February 7, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
For those who have employees in Maryland, how are you setting up the withholding of the county taxes? Does it roll into the state withholding, require a catch-all "MD County" deduction code or a separate one for each locality? Does the employee's address have to include the county field on the HR11 screen completed in order for the tax to be withheld? :nix:

ANY assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Good morning, Geri - I probably shouldn't respond because we don't do ANYTHING normal ... We have employees in MD, and we withhold county taxes, however, we don't use tax locator to assign the deductions, we use required codes instead. We have separate codes for each county, since most have slightly different rates. With our set up, the county code must be on the "Resident County" field on the US Local Taxes tab on HR11 for the required code to attach.

Good luck
