Title: I'm Running. What Can You Do ?

Hi Everyone,

Happy Holidays!

As some of you may know, I'll be running the OC 1/2 marathon on January 6th. I know it's a bit late in the game but we were just able to setup our fundraising page this morning. My team will be helping raise funds for the Reeve-Irvine Foundation. Whose mission is:

"to find new treatments for spinal cord injury through the collaborative research and educational efforts of prominent scientists and clinicians both at the University of California, Irvine and around the world."

Our current goal is to raise at least $5000 in the next two weeks. Please, please, please don't delay. If you put it off for later you'll forget. Please click the link below and make donation today and help us reach our goal. Also, please forward this link to your friends, family, and co-workers.

Nothing wrong with being the first to donate :D

Thank you for your generosity, I'll do my best to finish the run with a big smile on my face. Also, if your company is interested in sponsoring our team, we'd be more than happy to place your sticker on our shirts.

I've been sick as a dog this entire past week. Just recovering to about 85% today. Tomorrow I should be at 100% in time for the race on Sunday.
To top it off we're supposed to get some nasty rain any minute now that'll last possibly till race day. Makes it all the more fun.
Thanks for your support guys, I really appreciate it. This is a cause I actually believe in so it makes it easy to think I can finish on Sunday.

And as for the picture of my feet. If you insist :D Just remember that you asked :P

The run was awesome. I was recovering from a bad cold/flu so I was really worried. Anddd to top it off I had never run more than 8 miles so 13.1 was a total mystery. I kept a steady pace of 10-11 minute miles and finished in 2:20 . Surprised myself cause I had a lot of energy left still, could have probably gone 5-6 more miles at the same pace.

What was awesome was that the actual WINNER of the marathon (the full marathon) finished at the exact same time. Which was cool cause we got to see the commotion. What is absolutely crazy, is that he was running exactly twice as fast as us for twice as long to make it there at the same time. He was running like 5 minute miles. Insane!!

Anyway, thanks to all who donated, the donation window is still open till Wednesday in case you feel generous. Any amount will do.

I'll post some pix later.

I can help you with the "mystery". I was always told that if you can run HALF of the distance you need to, then you'll be okay - your mind gets you through the other half. And that has been the case for every race I tried. My son followed the same philosophy for his first 13.1 a couple of years ago, and he made it no problem. :-)

Congrats.
