we have a pretty unique situation at my current client and I am hoping one of you HR gurus can lend us a hand.
We are switching from Lawson to SAP at the first of the year (HR/PR only).
We were hoping to not have to touch our Lawson install and concentrate on the SAP implementation. Now it looks like this year-end stuff is not just a quick update.
We're on 8.0.3 apps and 8.0.3.6 env. Which is a bad place to be since we still have BSI 7.
I have been trying to piece it all together today since the directive has changed from lay low to panic as of this morning. I have talked to LIS and they can't give me a straight answer.
Here are my questions:
1) If we are NOT planning on doing a single payroll in Lawson after the first of the year do we still need to install BSI 8 for the year end stuff? (Consider that we ARE going to do W2s out of Lawson)
2) The LIS person seemed to think that we can Apply the year-end patches if we apply the BSI-8 related patches without installing BSI 8 and just staying on 7. What do you think? Is that too risky?
3) Does anyone know how we can determine what all the BSI 8.0 related patches are at this point? I am assuming that regardless of all the above, we're going to have to go to ESP7 before we can do anything with any of those patches.
What really sucks is that it takes weeks to get approval to even do a reorg on the server here, I can't imagine that we can possibly pull this off on time. If it was just me and the server I could do the upgrade and all the installs within a couple of days and have time left over to play the back nine before dark but there is more to it than that.
Thank you all so much for reading and helping out on this one.
