Has anyone been able to lock down pay rate by department? For example, if I want a user to see pay rates for everyone in the company except the HR department?

Hmm, Do you mean you want your User to see the salaries for everyone in the company but not the salaries for anyone in HR? If that is the case then I don't think there is a way other than custom programming of some sort, you might be able to do something in LAUA to restrict drill-arounds but ... :nix:

Yes, this is the feature I am looking for. I tried putting a condition on the Pay Rate field in LAUA however this did not work. I was afraid customizing the code was the only way to accomplish this. I was hoping someone had found another way.

It can be done using the HR security, but this will present another problem for those particular users running reports, extracts, etc... as they will not have the HR department data included in any of their reports.
We tried it, and the HR security did work, but these same users also ran reports and extracts, like for sending 401K data, and they were not included. It took a while to find the problem and we had to take it out.

Can you do record level securit in LAUA by employee? That might do it. I know you can block access to a company range and a process-level range but not sure about anything else, and I dount you'd want to put them in their own process-levels :merc:
Post here if you find a way because we'd like to do something somewhat similar.
