Title: Esp7 Cont... Ios Part Errored Out! Help?

I got through most of the steps in the IOS service pack install...set all the variables...etc...and it kicked off...ran...and then at the very end I got a popup error on lawcmp.exe - this is the error:

lawcmp.exe - Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.

All of the LOGAN compiles are queued up...if I use loccmp, I can compile...but for some reason the qcompile is not working. The Lawson rep is stumped...and when I do a search for this error in the KB, there is not a single hit, but I can see that it is a popular search. If anyone can offer any clues as to what might be the problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

Seems to be a pretty generic windows error:

Is there any information in the event viewer? How about the install log for the IOS service pack?

Are you in the Windows platform? 2000 or 2003? Based on the website mentioned by Area51, I've been told that Lawson apps do not support Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) and recommend using another product. We used Dameware successfully (FYI, RDP is supported on LSF9 Win2K3)

If you're not on Windows, then please disregard above.

There were no useful errors in the viewer...that was the first place I looked.

(I had googled it as well, but there was nothing there that resolved anything for me.)

I ended up having to turn off the queue, and leave it off for several minutes...and then compiled the Logan product line with cobcmp. The lawcmp.exe finally quit, and then I simply clicked FINISH on the installer. Lawson was stumped as to why this occurred, but since I was using Remote Desktop on W2000, then it sounds like Keith may have the answer.

Thanks all.

If you don't want to use RDP, may I suggest VNC, from http://www.realvnc.com

It's a remote desktop to the direct console of the server and not a virtual session. I prefer this over RDP because RDP just doesn't work well sometimes and I can't see what might be a problem directly on the console with RDP.

Thanks. I think I've used VNC a few years ago; working with other apps here - long before I stepped into the Lawson pit. :-) For some reason it went by the wayside, and now RMD is our standard tool. If I have further issues, I may look into it.
