Title: Lbi Crystal Report Drill Down

vc727 - July 20, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
I have several reports that are set up for drill down. when some users view them and try to drill down all they get is a blank screen and the messsage in the lower left hand corner saying done. has anyone seen this before and would you have a suggestion on resolving it?

Eric,

lets play 20 questions:

are these set up to burst?
Is everyone having the same issue with the same report?
If you drill down on the same record from the desktop crystal designer, what do you see?

The report is set up to burst.

Most users get this issue at some point in time. even me. I don't get it very often but there are times when I get the blank screen and done as the message.

Drill down from the designed works great.

couple more:

Are you running this report ondemand or are they historical instacne?
Have you tried running it from the Crystal Launchpad?

For fear of sounding like GSC, itll be easier to trouble shoot if you can get a repeatable action.

It happens on both sceduled and on demand reports.

I know sporadic problems are a pain I was thinking it may have something to do with the browser and was wondering if anyone else was seeing this problem.

What is Crystal Launchpad?

Crystal Launchpad is the default web viewer that is installed with Crystal RAS engine. I think we configured it to run when I was there last.

Login to the LBI server and go to BusinessObjects under the Start>Programs, there should be a short cut there. Place your RPT file on the C drive and then click "View Report" from the upper left hand corner of the Launchpad. You should see your RPT file in the right hand pane. Click it, youll have to login and pass any parameters. If the drill down works fine there then you know its an LBI issue.

When you have this problem have you noticed if youre getting any javascript errors in you status bar?

When I try to run the launchpad I get an error message requested resource not available.

The only thing in the status bar is the word Done.

Make sure that "Active Server Pages" is set to "Allowed" in IIS.

On second thought, that sounds like a Tomcat error...

No, its definitely IIS. What URL does it take you to? It should be something like http://servername/rassamples11/RASStartup_en.htm
