We are trying to get our new boxes aix5.3 up in baby steps...
8.0.2 ENV / 8.0.3 apps
Then up to 8.0.3 env.
Our old AIX4.3.3 boxes have MF V2.0 revision 11 build.
I believe on the new boxes, that I have to install 2.2 while the env is 8.0.2.
Then 4.0 SP2 when I go up to 8.0.3..
Question..... Will I need new Server express & developer license keys for each of these steps?
1) New box Env 8.0.2 MF Version2.2
2) Upgrade to env 8.0.3 MF version 4.0
I had already installed V5.0, to find out that it is only supported on LSF9...
And it took more than a month to get that answer from them....
TIA for any help!
We are upgrading to micro focus v5. on to a new server. In order to use our licenses on the new server we would have to revoke the old licenses on the old servers. Which does not work. Micro focus will give you a 90 day eval copy and if you need longer they will charge you a monthly rental. The monthly rental is $296 plus $110 per every 10 user licenses.
We are upgrading to LSF9 and had to install a new COBOL license as well. It took FOREVER for our account rep to get back to us (actually, he still hasn't). the key apparently is this:
Send your platform, client ID and "request key" from MF NetExpress to: order.processing@us.lawson.com explaining you need a new license key. Your account rep is supposed to do this for you.....
We got a response within about an hour and the update worked nicely. You are then supposed to decommission your old license. Lawson does not require that you send them the decomm key. It is on your honor.
Wow. How timely is THIS thread.
I am upgrading our 8.0.3 environment to ESP7, and also doing the NETEXPRESS upgrade to 4.0. (Due to staffing issues, very litte patching/upgrading has occured in the past year.) Unfortunately I am not trained in this area so I feel like I'm in a very dark cave here.
There is a step in the Microfocus upgrade that states to download and install a "Licensing Patch". I know that we have the 3.1 SP1 installed (because I tried to install it and it told me it was already there) so would there be a problem if I tried to install the Licensing Patch and it was already installed? I have no previous knowledge of what was done on this server, only that someone downloaded the files, but did not complete the upgrade to 4.0.
Adding to the frustration is the fact that this is a Windows 2000 server, which is desupported, so Lawson is no help. At this point I am thinking I should maybe bag the Net Express upgrade entirely for this server. It's not required for ESP7, just optional. Thoughts?
I retract that post. We have decided to skip the net express upgrade.
