Title: Add-ins
Description: A macro to populate required fields
JBAofOSJ - July 2, 2007 02:18 PM (GMT)
The Question: Can an excel macro be written to populate the “User Name” and “Password” fields required to access “Lawson Upload Wizard?” :cof:
The Why: We create large journal entries here (500+) regularly, and to enter them manually would obviously hinder productivity. I want to enable our financial department to use “Add-Ins” but without giving them full access. :nix:
The Desired Result: I have created an Excel Based JE Template that is self-auditing / -formatting to meet the add-in requirements. Now to get past our Internal Control Department, I need to create a way (macro or like manor) that can be built into the “Template” so the user can upload the particular JE into Lawson and then exit the Add-In function once complete. :thumb:
My Idea: I am using “Buttons” to prompt the user as to what step to take next. The final prompt at this point reads “Upload Template.” I want to link this Button to a macro that once clicked would perform the login requirements for the Add-Ins function. In addition, when the upload is complete, I need the macro to logout / exit Add-Ins. :coffee:
Please reply with any ideas or thoughts. :afro:
Thanks,
JBA

Wouldn't it be a LOT simpler to just use the GL500 to process csv files created by your users? It would CERTAINLY be a lot faster.

GL500 would… and is faster… but… :banghead:
Based on how the financial department and system securities are set up here… I need to be able to answer my original question.
I can call the login prompt… I need a way to populate it “behind the scenes ” so the user does not realize it. :yammer:
Thanks for your reply. :somb:

Instead of answers, I can offer only additional Considerations: :whip:
1. Macro ownership: Who will update the Macro for User Adds/Deletes, Password Changes? :nix:
2. Does the Excel Based JE Template that's been created TRULY allow User X to use MSOAI to Upload into GL45 even if User X does not have MSOAI installed on their PC? If "No", see Consideration Number 3.
3. Who will be the first user to figure out that they actually have MSOAI on their PC, and they can use it "at will", without the guidance of the pre-developed JE Template? [My money is on User JS ~ :-D] :ph43r:
4. Visual Basic can be used to write Excel Macros.
5. If any of your users ever sign up for LawsonTalk and read this post... :bonk:

Good luck.
