Title: Setting Up Negative Deductions
Description: set up a benefit plan that has a negativ

I want to set up a benefit plan that creates a negative deduction. I know I would need to set up a flex plan. Here is my question:

"How can we set up a benefit plan that has a negative deduction tied to it, or an add to net deduction, where the employee will see the dollars as a negative amount on the deduction side of their paycheck. We have tried using a flex plan approach with negative deductions, however when adding the benefit for the employee (BN31) the deduction does not get created (PR14). I'm wondering if this type of plan only works if you use the negative deduction to off set another benefit"

Thanks

More info to the original post:
I had previously tested the credits, and got that working. But the benefits staff really doesn't want to add to the gross pay. They want a negative deduction.

I have it working just as a plain deduction, not tied to any benefit plan, as an add to net calculation.

I was hoping though, that I could create a benefit plan that would create a negative deduction. I tested that, and see that the only way to do this is with a flex plan. So I set up a flex plan, tied it to a benefit plan, tied a negative deduction amt for contributions, but when you enroll a person in the plan, it does not kick off a deduction on PR14. So I'm thinking that the system isn't meant to work that way???????????

Does anyone have any info that could help?
Thanks
