Title: Design Studio User Fields
Description: how to access HREMPUSF table using DS

dctarheel - May 18, 2007 07:34 PM (GMT)
Has anyone worked with Design Studio and user fields? I'm trying to
customize HR11, and I started with a blank template. I cannot figure
out how to access user fields attached to each employee, if this is
possible. The HREMPUSF table doesn't show up in the table selection
list. Thanks for any clues.

I tried that a few years ago and didn't find a way to do it.

As silly as it sounds the User fields are not available fields on hr11. They are called in for display when you look at that part of hr11.

The field we really wanted displayed was rehire eligibility which wasn't a standard lawson field. We didn't want it hidden in with the other user fields either so we took a field from HR11 that wasn't being used for anything and renamed it REHIRE ELIGIBILITY. You just have to know what field you hijacked so you can report on it. In our case UNION CODE in the database is rehire eligibility.

I would be interested to see if anyone has come up with another option.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping I was just missing something, but sounds like hijacking another standard field is the only option. What good are USEr fields if you can't use them? :banghead:

We use them a lot more oftn than I would like, but mainly for background things. To identify employees as eligible for some grandfathered benefit or to hold a piece of information that is needed for another system. We have a user field that holds the spending limit that an employee can charge in the cafeteria. That interfaces to a systemin the cafeteria. They work well for stuff like that just not for things you want easily displayed. If you use the quick paint for HR11 and work backwards taking off the things you don't want you could leave the stock user field display in place. I don't know if that would help.
