Title: E-broadcasting Users - Is Any Going To Reporting
Description: Services instead of LBI?

Lawson now says that Reporting Services Bursting is an alternative to moving to LBI from e-Broadcasting. Has anyone else had these discussions, or is everyone planning on moving forward with LBI?

Tori,

you may want to confirm this with Lawson but I believe when they refer to "Reporting Services Bursting", they are actually talking about LBI. Reporting Services Bursting is the module within Reporting Services, which is one of the LBI applications, that allows you to set up Rights Management on report to allow bursting capabilities.

Its my understanding that the next release (9.0.2, due out at the begining of May) has some enhanced capabilities for migrating from e-broadcasting.

hth,
matt

The e-Broadcasting decommission letter on 3/9 says that Reporting Services Bursting or LBI are options. Support initially thought this was a typo in the letter. Then I found that Lee Kilmer's LBI Differences presentation from CUE states that we can upgrade to Reporting Services Bursting or migrate to LBI. I received confirmation from our account executive that this is an option that Lawson just made available to e-Broadcasting users.

It appears that Report Bursting doesn't do much more than e-Broadcasting, and it only works with back-office reports. The good thing about it is that the reports are displayed in PDF format, which will make printing much easier for report recipients.

Interesting. Sounds like they'll let you upgrade to Reporting Services (RS) & Framework Services (FS) 9 if you own eBroadcasting...as an alternative to purchasing the LBI suite (RS, FS, Smart Notifications, Scorecard, etc).

Seems like a fair way for Lawson to handle an eBroadcasting decommission without forcing customers to incur additional and/or increased licensing fees of LBI.

It's not often that I catch myself talking about "Lawson", "licensing", and "fair" in the same breath, so it's worth noting.
