Our company currently does not use the Position field which reflects on the HR11 screen, however, since we will be implementing ProcessFlow, I've been told this is a critical field to have populated. I understand that PA06, PA02 and HR10 will be used. Does anyone use this field for the purpose of ProcessFlow functionality? Any advice for someone who has to learn what the field is for and how to set up from the ground up?
We currently use the position PA02 and process flow but, I am not sure why it would be critical unless your process flow used that field. I can see needing HR 10 data item atributes set up. Since using positions are optional I really doubt that you have to use them in order to use process flow. I may be wrong it has happened before but I have many processes running that don't have anything to do with the position code. from where I am sitting building position codes is a big job I would verify your source before taking this on. what are you trying to accomplish in Process Flow? That may have something to do with the recomendation.
ProcessFlow set up for new hire for example. We don't want the approval to go to an individual name since there could be employee movement, and can't use jobcode since more than 1 person could have the same job code. The thought was the position code would be unique to that duty
Are you sure you need position codes? It sounds more like you need supervisor codes... If you are looking for approvals on hires then you want the approval from the supervisor or 2nd level supervisor. My understanding is that you do not need position codes to use supervisor codes?
Also, you said that position codes would be "unique to that duty".... Be careful not to create custom position codes for every employee. We created "smart" codes and it is a mess. WAY TO MANY CODES TO MANAGE...
Good Luck!
Shane
I agree with Shane -- it sounds like you need Supervisor Codes.
In Process Flow, for HR User Actions, work escalates based on the HR Supervisor chain -- the HR Supervisor chain is also used in Manager Self Service.

:bs: Position Codes are not required for either Process Flow or Supervisor Codes.

1. If your PAYROLL is run in Lawson, read the information on Defaults and Overrides in the PR User Guide -- several critical defaulting schemes have different flows for "With Positions" versus "Without Positions".
2. If your organization uses either the Budgets or the Requisitions functionality in Personnel Admin (PA), coordinate current usage with the new Position Rules and Codes.
3. Avoid using Pos Codes solely for Process Flow.
Good luck. :)
