Title: Tracking Volunteers

ScottZ - March 26, 2007 12:35 PM (GMT)
Is anyone using Lawson to track volunteers?

We have numerous volunteers and need a way to track contact info and background checks for these people. We were thinking of putting them into a volunteer position code and a status of VL w/ no pay or benefits.

Just wondering what experience others may have had with this? Some of our techies have problems with putting non-ees in the HRIS.

That's what we do. We have a status code for our mission volunteers. I can understand the argument for NOT adding them to a payroll/HR system, but we decided that the practical need to keep track of them was more important.

We created a whole new company HR01 just to use for tracking volunteers. But yet we track contract staff in our main company with a different processing group.

We made the decision to track our volunteers in a seperate company in Lawson. One of the reasons for that is that some of our employees also volunteer. Even though we do not "pay" our volunteers using Lawson has allowed us to track the activities/taks our volunteers perform a well as the background checking, reviews, etc.
