Title: Copying 802 Env
Description: Prep for LSF9

cBreeze - March 16, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)

In our Prep for LSF9, we have to upgrade our current 8.0.2 ENV. to 8.0.3
We now have new AIX boxes to prepare a staging area to do this, as well as for the LSF9 install.

I am contemplating how to :
1) copy 8.0.2 over to the new boxes, with LAUA Security/classes, jobs, etc... then upgrade it to 8.0.3.
or
2) download 8.0.3 clean to the new box & then just copy Security/classes, jobs, etc... from the old 8.0.2 box

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, documentation or have seen a good KB article?

Thanks!

Copy the Env to the new box (use the same directory structure if you can - otherwise you have to edit some of the GEN tables - I can tell you how)
Get LADBDIR (Get LAWDIR if you want all the same productlines)
Modify your LAWDIR/CAP_DB files so they don't REALLY point to your production DBs

Set your env variables (since there is no /etc/lawson/env)

install Java and the MF cobol compiler (you can't copy it)

cd $GENDIR

run install/install

startlaw

Compile the productlines you want and delprod the ones you don't want (even if you didn't copy them over - they are still in GEN

do your upgrade to 803 :thumb:

Oh.. And option 2 won't work - you have to UPGRADE to get the security classes and jobs to go with you - they're not portable between versions

Typo's from the previous post:

Modify your LAWDIR/CAP_DB

Should be: Modify your LAWDIR/<productline>/CAP_DB

Set your env variables (since there is no /etc/lawson/env)

Perhaps someone can give us some (re-)direction with this upgrade process.

On our new boxes (AIX5.3), So far we have brought over all of law8 (from old aix4.3 802env box).

Installed Oracle10 amd MFcobol5.

1) Do we need to run install/install on GENDIR?

2) Do we need to get the 802env up before upgrading to 803?
(Including ios/portal, etc..)?

3) 802 env does not support Oracle10.

Thanks very much

1) Yes. To set all the variables up correctly I believe.

2) Yes. If your copying to a completely different box you want to have everything almost exactly the same as possible before upgrading. I went through the same thing. The nice thing with this was you can copy a cold backup of everything for Lawson and you don't need to do any crazy dumps in order to get everything back.

3) Depending on the size of your data can you setup Oracle 9 on the same server? Or even better yet setup Oracle 9 on a remote server - you still need to build the oracle api so you could install the Oracle 9i client on the same server for the libraries. After you upgrade to 8.0.3 copy the data over, point lawson to the new database, rebuild the oracle interface and you should be good to go.

I am having some random issues bringing up forms... in 8.0.2 env on new aix5.3 box.
We have the env up and data loaded in oracle 9.

Some forms come up, some do not, and just hang on cmdline...
Sometimes I get a univwin error.
I am able to get into some setup & history forms such pr50.2, but cannot access hr11 or pr80, (just hangs on cmd-line).
also, Basically same thing in po/ap, etc...
No msg's in log files that I have found...
Anyone have a suggestion? or pointers as to what else I can check?
Greatly appreciated!

Did you run 'cmprts' on the new box?

cBreeze - August 2, 2007 12:30 PM (GMT)
Yes :thumb:
I installed mf2.2, compiled it all.
Copied txfactory7 stuff from old box. ran cmptxfora7...

I just found that it is not creating a lacobrts or a oradb process on certain forms.
(i.e. hr11)

But it does on other forms (i.e hr02.1)
??
