Title: Tracking Existing Employees' Qualifications

How are you tracking the qualifications of existing employees in their positions? We want to load all of the qualifications for our clinical positions, and then report on those employees who either do not have the qualifications required for their position, or whose certifications or licenses are about to expire. We currently report on expired/expiring certifications and licenses that in Lawson, but it can't tell us if someone is in a position and doesn't have a qualification required for that position. Also, if an employee changes positions, and a qualification they have is not required for that position, it will continue to report them if that certification expires.

Using Qualifications (PA08) won't work since it is designed for finding qualified applicant, not existing employees already in the position. Training tracks won't work either, since it won't consider existing qualifications that are expiring.

If you are using a 3rd party vendor for this tracking, can you tell me who you are using?

Thanks for your help!

Using PA08 works for us when we use it in conjunction with the credentials task on self service. It only shows those certifications that are tied to the position or job code.

Here's some hints:

use PAEMPPOS - get the latest position (job code). Check job code from jobcode table if
it belong to a group(type) that needs certification. If JBR-REQUIRED-FLAG = Y then
get the license number from EMPCODES which has the certificate type, license number
and dates(from and thru). In our case we schedule a job everyday to catch licenses that is expiring or expired. The report is bursted and sent to individual supervisor via ebroadcasting.

I'm also developing(almost done) a new functionality to track which job codes require a certain type or combination of types of certificates. This is the only functionality that Lawson does not provide.

example: For multi-hospital system that expand several states and if a nurse works
in at least two different states, we need to track what type of certificate a nurse(jobcode) will require for a given state.

Thanks for the information. A report was the route we were looking at, too. We also need to explore what we can do through Manager Self-Service. In either case it sounds like building the qualifications by position code on PA08 is the first thing that needs to get done.

Mannie - We use e-Broadcasting extensively here. Have you started planning for the move to LBI?

We are still at 8.0.2 and I'm very much involved in going to 8.0.03 which is going to happen in a couple of months. After that I may have to go on LBI training for the release 9.
