Title: Smart Notification
Description: Bursting dilemma

billw - February 22, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
I'm having an issue with bursting. I have a SN that has 2 infosets. The first is a total of order amounts, and the second is the detail of those orders. I have the SN set to burst by Customer Number. I have also created a bursting infoset with an email address.

My issue is that the first infoset (totals) will burst by Customer Number as hoped, but the second infoset just displays all the information it has. It doesn't burst like the first infoset. So, both customers see all the order details, not just their own. The 'collate' switch is currently checked.

I would like to keep the multiple infosets as it provides some separation between the types of data.

Is this expected behavior? Any other workarounds you have done?

Thanks for your help.

Edit the Notification and in Step 3 on the Bursting tab, I assume you have selected "Data from Summary Infoset " from the "Determine recipients using data in this table" drop down and "Customer Number" from the "and this column" drop down?

Have you selected anything from the "Additionally filter these tables (only necessary for tables not linked by parameters)" list box? If not, try selecting the 2nd infoset here.

If that doesnt work, Im assuming youve created a Customer Number Personal Data Value and associated that to a Category. Then youve associated that Category to a field in Step 2 of the infoset editor for the Summary Infoset? Try doing the same with the deail infoset.

Thanks!! That worked.

This was the key: If not, try selecting the 2nd infoset here.

I wrongly assumed that as long as the box was populated, it was selected.

Thanks Matt, I appreciate the help.
