There was a question about my posting in the "Make a Wish, Break a Wish" string

QUOTE (schroncd @ Feb 17 2007, 04:48 AM) Granted, but you have to take the prerequisite test at CUE this year. (TRUE!!!)
I wish it were warm enough to go sailing this weekend.
Sorry to ruin the game. But Dave what are you referring to when you say you have to take the prerequisite test?
Please excuse the intruption in the game, carry on. Maybe you can start a different post on that topic Dave. - Thanks

Lawson will be offering Lawson Systems Administration Certification testing at this year's CUE. Those attaining the certification will be eligible to take the LSF9 installation and upgrade certification classes when they come available. The test will be a bear - it's written by techs for techs - and will truly test your Lawson (and associated products) administration knowledge. It's designed so that those people who can say they are "Certified Lawson Systems Administrators" can actually admin a Lawson system.
I'm working with the team writing the test, and we're completing it now. Look for more info soon on the CUE website.

Will this be availble after CUE anywhere?
schroncd - February 18, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
All I know at present is that we are busting our humps to get this ready for CUE. Although I can't imagine it will be a "CUE Only" event, I certainly can't say one way or the other.
Come to CUE - Come prepared. Many will test and some will not pass.

Four Ways to StepUp to LSF 9....Faster than you might think — January 31, 2007
It is in the 4th option section.
There are Pre-req's for LSF9 certification
1) Websphere/tivoli
2) sys-admin specialist course/exam (3+yrs 8.0 experience)
3) Experience in your platform, DB & technology
Exams are $150. I think.
I believe There is a power training class at Cue Fri to Sun for the 8.0 sys-admin.
And as Dave mentioned, I think they are having exam booths setup for the sys-admin pre-req exam.
There will also be 5 day migration training classes coming... to set up the LSF9 Certifcation exam.
so far they have a couple scheduled in St.Paul 3/19 & 4/16.
Any Hump-Busting Insight to the exam, sure would be nice if posted out here!!

Sorry, posting anything specific would be cheating and might cost me my job, but you have the idea - it's in your post.
Here's all you need to pass the test:

Hi Dude
I've a certification in 8.0.3 from Lawson university, St Paul. Can or should I obtain LSF 9.0 certification the same way?
Thanks

The only path is thru Lawson Learning. Check them out via the support.lawson.com website.

We were able to obtain a "Customer Certification" from Lawson. This involved a few things:
1) Separate (aka not included in the price) class and certification on LSF9 Lawson Admin
2) Included LSF9 Install and Migration for Windows (Unix is separate) class and certification test
3) Bundle of hours from LPS for remote support during the migration project and cutover weekend.
Overall we found the experience worth while. One of the best side effects (from what I hear) is that we were on our own schedule. I've heard rumors of multi-month delays if you're counting on Lawson or partner resources for the work.

Great Keith!! I'm pleased you found it a positive experience. Everyone that I've talked to has had similar comments.
I will address the "multi-month delays" you mentioned though - I don't want folks to get the impression that there are delays in on-going installations.
Lawson's (and the Partner's) technical resources are booked well in advance to perform these installations/migrations, so, like scheduling anything that's short on supply, you need to plan ahead and schedule early. I hope that no one assumes they can call today to get LSF9 installed next week - at least not by a certified installer.. If you are contemplating LSF9 and looking to have it installed for you rather than taking Keith's path, PLEASE contact your CAM *NOW* to start the planning process. That way, when your resource comes available you'll be ready to go...
You can find your CAM on the first page of support.lawson.com in the little blue box. Click on "Find out who to call with your questions/projects" and click "Client Manager"
g'luck to all of you!
